Congratulations BUT: because this only has to be the begginning. I'd like to say this to Egyptian people:
KEEP TOGETHER and think about starting from zero in a REAL democratic way, NOT LIKE IN OCCIDENTAL WORLD. You're going to be in the perfect position (with a revolution in way) to decide how you want to share your own social reality for the next decenies. Occidental system is not sustainable, I live there and I know it. Real democracy, which means that people takes EVERY DECISION of the country, is the solution. Think about it: choose that you want to take YOUR OWN PART in every decission that concerns your nearby area. Stablish NOT A REPRESENTANT but A VOICEKEEPER of each area that will take your common decission to a larger area assembly. Do it with every level and AVOID POWER POSITIONS and long duration charges. This is how a society gets together: because there's no better citizen, because everyone is worth and is worth the same, and because YOU COUNT EVERYDAY!!
COME ON, EGYPT!!! IT'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE THE HEAD OF REAL DEMOCRACY!!!!
Please comment on this idea: I think that Egypt needs a new Cleopatra, but one who is democratically elected.
Call her Hatshepsut, if you like. I would call it the Egypt United party, because only a nation of gender equality can be truly united.
There are no female leaders anywhere in the Arab or Muslim world, where women are, let's face it, second class citizens. Female genital mutilation is still widely practiced in Egypt, and the list could go on. Yet Egypt has a rich history of ancient female leaders. At least a few, which is more than others.
Think what the message would be if Egypt really stood for change. Something completely different. Something that screamed "new direction."
We (okay, me and two friends) hope to spread this idea and maybe a female leader will emerge. Please help us!
dear egypt,
i pray that you will truly achieve the government that you desire. in 1986, we, in the philippines, too experienced what you are experiencing right now. be united in your quest for a better government.

It is my great hope that no one else dies. However impossible this may seem. It is absolutely disgusting that the government would actively seek to harm its own people. May the powers of human compassion and freedom prevail. Good luck and the best to all Egyptians fighting for their basic human rights.
Congratulations and all the best. but you must br careful not to be saved from the bad tothe worst, from hell to the kingdom of hell.
In thees kind of situations, people must open the eyes widely and pay al lot of attention to all kind of ellements that can take advantage to their ideological interest that can be harmful to the democacy. in other words, don't let elements to exploit the democratic system in order to hurt the democracy!!!

חולם בהקיץ... I agree :)
Apparently, Christians have been cordoning Muslims during times of prayer to protect them. Beautiful! We saw a little of that during the Lebanese Cedar Revolution that helped to kick out the Syrian army.
Doesn't that show that the prejudice attitude (or, "el-fetna") towards the other is created and imposed on us by our leaders so they can strengthen their choke on their people? I'm a proud Christian Arab and would love to live in peace with all Arabs from any religion, including Jews. You can worship your favorite toothbrush for all I care as long as you're willing to learn to love your neighbor.
Growing up in the west gave me the opportunity to encounter some lovely people from all kinds of ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Finally, I wish the Egyptian people real democracy, peace and tolerance, and hope other Arab country decide to follow suit so we can try to catch up with the 21st century. The dark ages are so "passé" ;)!!!
This from a grandmother in Ohio, USA. You are showing such strength under such pressure. As a Christian I will be praying for the beautiful people of Egypt. We have seen your peaceful demonstrations, this has been so impressive and shows the character of your country. Then came those who caused pain and death. We have the same issues here. Good people demonstrate and then bad people come to cause problems. We want you to have freedom. The USA does NOT want to change your wonderful people Egypt,we treasure who you are and your history, but we will be praying that you win your freedom. Freedom to all from USA!! I wish we could do more to help.
i would like to join the good wishes and i pray with all my heart that you all will get your liberty and have a good life. but i must admit i am indeed very worried. i hope you will learn from other countries and wont fall into the hands of fanatics.the way it happened in iran and lebanon. you must be very smart and relentless and choose both your friends and enemies very carefully.i hope that in israel-you will still see a friend. otherwise life in the area will get even more difficult to everyone.
stay safe, united and true-you are all quite an inspiration to all the world.
Yes, I agree with previous blogger. We are all frightened that your wonderful people might be taken over by the wrong people. From what we hear the Muslim Brotherhood is very dangerous for everyone, even the people of Egypt. I must say that this young man Wael Ghonim (not sure of spelling) but this young man seems to be a perfect example of Egypt's youth and might be a perfect person to take some leadership role in your country. But again, please know, the world is praying for all of you. Although we all know our God by different names, we can pray for one another and live together in peace. This is a turning point in the world. Freedom and peace for everyone or dictatorship and war? What will it be. My heart is with you, we are sickened to see innocent people suffer. May you have strength and determination as you deal with this struggle. Freedom for Egypt! Freedom for the world.
